The award winner, Paul McCantney has performed in the ceremony. ‘Library of Congress Gershwin Prize’ is an award given for their lifetime contributions to music. This award was introduced in the year 2007 by Library of Congress. The prize is named for Brother George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin, who are well known for their popular music. Paul Simon is the first award winner.
