‘The Help’ film starring Emma Stone and Viola Davis, rules the North American Box Office in its second week while ‘Spy Kids 4′, ‘Fright Night’, ‘Conan the Barbarian’ and ‘One Day’ doesn’t meet the viewpoint in their first week collections.
The Touchstone Pictures – ‘The Help’ is a drama based on Kathryn Stockett’s best-selling novel about African-American maids during the Civil Rights period, beat out high profile sequels has earned $20.5 million to its domestic gross, totaling $71.8 million sales after playing in theaters for 12 days.
20th Century Fox release – “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” movie has spotted second with $16.3 million earnings.
The director Robert Rodriguez’s family franchise movie “Spy Kids: All the Time in the World,” the fourth entry, earned $12 million. The Dimension Films release is being touted as “4D,” joining 3D presentation with a scratch and sniff card that allows the audience to smell odors from the movie.
Two remakes of 1980s films rounded out the top five positions. “Conan the Barbarian,” from Lionsgate, brought in $10 million gross and Touchstone’s “Fright Night,” starring Colin Farrell, made $8.3 million earnings over the weekend.
