The nominees and winners to the 12th Annual Latin Grammy Awards have been revealed. Calle 13 led the list of finalists with 10 nominations in three genres including the Urban, Alternative, and Tropical field.Calle 13 has already bagging at least 10 titles in the earlier season, the Puerto Rican twosome comprised of Rene Perez and Eduardo Cabra have a chance to be a big winner again this season by scoring a total of 10 nominees.
The step brothers are striving for “Album of the Year”, thanks to “Entren Los Que Quieran”. They clash it out with the likes of Lena Burke, Alex Ubago and Jorge Villamizar (“Alex, Lena Y Jorge”), Franco De Vita (“En Primera Fila”), Shakira (“Sale El Sol”) and Enrique Iglesias (“Euphoria”).They are some more nods for “Producer of the Year” and “Best Urban Music Album” for the same album. The other nominees contain “Record and Song” of the Year (“Latinoamerica”), Best Tropical Song (“Vamo’ a Portarnos Mall”) and Best Urban Song (“Baile de los Pobres”), Best alternative song and Best Short Form Music Video (“Calma Pueblo”).
Next Calle’s domination is engineer/producer Rafa Arcaute, who scores 6 nods and shares one of them with the twosome in Producer of the Year. Franco trails behind him with 5 nods, Marco Antonio Solis gets 4 nods, Ricky Martin is one of those who receive 3 nods, and Wisin & Yandel join the group with 2 nods.This season Latin Grammy Awards is set for November 10 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in LA, and will be aired live on the Univision Network from 8 to 11 p.m. A limited number of tickets to the prize-giving event will be available for sale to the public starting Sept 15, 2011.
