Shrek 3D spinoff ‘Puss in Boots’ has topped the US (North America) box office in its opening weekend.
The DreamWorks animation movie “Puss in Boots” features the voices of Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek, took $34 million over the course of this weekend.
Last week’s box-office topper Paranormal Activity 3 got down to second position this week with $18.5 million earnings, while the Justin Timberlake-starring sci-fi thriller movie ‘In Time’ opened to $12 million.
Dance remake ‘Footloose’ movie took $5.4 million, while Hunter S. Thompson adaptation ‘The Rum Diary,’ starring Johnny Depp, opened to estimated takings of $5 million and taking fifth position.
The top 10 films in the North America box office this weekend also includes “Real Steel” (4.7 million), “The Three Musketeers” (3.5 million dollars), “The Ides of March” (2.7 million dollars), “Moneyball” (2.4 million dollars) and ” Courageous” (1.8 million dollars).
The animation’s showing has been negatively affected by a host of parts, that includes an early Northeastern snowstorm over the weekend, game 7 of the World Series on Friday and Halloween which falls next Monday, according to the North America box office authority.
