Drake topped the U.S. album chart with his sophomore set “Take Care” and now claimed the top spot of the Billboard Hot 200.
The Canadian rapper has thanked his fans upon learning that, he claimed the top spot on Billboard Hot 200. He said that, he can not even find the words to express his appreciation…’thank you and I owe you’ is all that comes to his mind…truly.
Drizzy has sold a grand total of 631,000 copies, falling short of the original estimation of 675,000 to 700,000. Still, it is his best sales week since his first No. 1 album “Thank Me Later” entered the chart with 447,000.
The number’s enough to place Drizzy, as an artist with the third-largest sales week of the 2011 year. He stood after Lady GaGa, who seized the biggest sales week of 2011 with “Born This Way” (1.1 million copies), and Lil Wayne, who followed her with “Tha Carter IV” (964,000 copies).
However, the Mother Monster got such a massive selling number with the help of 99-cent sale pricing on Amazon, while the two Young Money MCs did not use such tactics. Due to this concern, Billboard would no longer count unit sales for albums priced below $3.49 starting Nov. 21, 2011.
It was announced that, the low pricing during their first four weeks of release will not be qualified for inclusion on the Billboard album charts and will not add-up towards sales data presented by Nielsen SoundScan.
On Hot 200, Michael Buble held the runner-up position firmly with his latest “Christmas” album which added 165,000 (up 35%). The Top 10 of Billboard Hot 200 are as follows:
- “Take Care” – Drake (631,000)

- “Christmas” – Michael Buble (165,000)
- “21″ – Adele (113,000)
- “Concerto: One Night in Central Park” – Andrea Bocelli (87,000)
- “Under the Mistletoe” – Justin Bieber (84,000)
- “Glee: The Music, The Christmas Album, Vol. 2″ – various artists (71,000)
- “Now 40″ hits compilation – various artists (71,000)
- “The Twilight Saga’s Breaking Dawn Part I” soundtrack – various artists (61,000)
- “Mylo Xyloto” – Coldplay (54,000)
- “Someone to Watch Over Me” – Susan Boyle (52,000)
