Summit Entertainment’s female-driven blockbuster “Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” has topped the number one position at US box office for a third week consistently again besting “The Muppets.”
The penultimate film in the vampire franchise, starring Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen), Kristen Stewart (Bella Swan) and Taylor Lautner (Jacob Black), took $16.9 million in one of the quietest weekends of the 2011 fall.
The Muppets movie, starring Jason Segel and Amy Adams held steady at second position with a collection of $11.2 million, while Hugo film climbed from two places to third place with the earnings of $7.62 million.
Arthur Christmas movie leveled at fourth spot, with Happy Feet Two movie falling two to complete the top fifth position. There were no new entries inside the U.S top ten, with The Descendants climbing up two positions to this week’s seven.
